Willie Dixon was the unequivocal studio kingpin of the Chicago blues, having written, produced, and played bass on countless classics by Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Otis Rush, Koko Taylor, and many others. Issued on Columbia Records in 1970, the judiciously titled I Am The Blues compiles the prolific and quintessential blues songwriter's own recordings of his famous originals from his legendary 1960's output including "Back Door Man," "Spoonful," "(I'm Your) Hoochie Coochie Man," and "The Little Red Rooster." The album was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 1986 while Willie was awarded a well deserved posthumous induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994.
