"Steady, As She Goes" is the lead single from The Raconteurs' Broken Boy Soldiers. The song has become well known as a crowd surf-inducing, pogo-worthy crowd-pleaser since its initial release in 2006. Brendan Benson and Jack White teamed up to put the final touches on a batch of songs written in the time between the release of The White Stripes' seminal Elephant, in 2003, and their oft decried follow-up, Get Behind Me Satan, in 2005. Joined by the rhythm section from The Greenhornes, Patrick Keeler and Jack Lawrence, the band were considered by many to be one of the great garage rock super groups of the aughts. This 7" signals the perfect blend between Benson and White, the former known for his impeccable melodies and the latter known for his gritty spontaneity, to say nothing of the world class rhythm section that was, up until this point, only known in smaller circles.
