Limited Edition Peach Splatter Vinyl
Originally founded as the one-man project of Boston, MA-based singer-songwriter Michael Angelakos, Passion Pit immediately earned worldwide applause for their open-hearted and adventurous musical approach, fusing exhilarating electronic pop with a deeply personal songcraft. The band burst into the forefront of post-millennium pop with 2009's RIAA Gold-certified breakthrough debut album, Manners, highlighted by the Platinum-certified hit single, "Sleepyhead." Passion Pit spent much of the next few years on the road, playing to increasingly larger crowds while Angelakos set to work writing songs for their now eagerly anticipated second LP.
Evincing both a darker lyrical tone and vivid sense of rhythm and sonic adventure, Gossamer made a spectacular top 5 debut on the Billboard 200 upon its July 2012 release by Columbia and Frenchkiss Records, also arriving at No. 2 on both the "Top Alternative Albums" and "Top Rock Albums" charts – Passion Pit's highest placement to date. Produced by Angelakos with longtime collaborators Chris Zane and engineer Alex Aldi, the collection includes such iconic singles as the 2x RIAA Platinum-certified "Take a Walk," "I'll Be Alright," "Constant Conversations," and "Carried Away."
Gossamer was met by ecstatic critical applause from high-profile media outlets across the globe, with Pitchfork bestowing "Best New Music" honors upon the album, writing, "Three difficult years in the making, Gossamer is an overwhelming album about being overwhelmed, a bold and ultimately stunning torrent of maximalist musical ideas, repressed anger, and unchecked anxiety." Rolling Stone later named the collection among its "50 Best Albums of 2012," declaring "...It's high-end dance rock as John Updike might have it."
