40th Anniversary Expanded Reissue with Remastered Audio by Greg Calibi and Six Bonus Tracks Plus Alternative Cover Art
Yep Roc Records celebrates the 40th anniversary of Marshall Crenshaw's second album Field Day with an expanded reissue featuring remastered audio by Greg Calibi and a bonus LP with six bonus tracks (five previousy unreleased) plus alternative cover art. Musically Field Day is Crenshaw at his best, with addictive hooks, heart-tugging lyrics and beautiful melodies. Produced by Steve Lillywhite and featuring the hit "Whenever You're On My Mind," the 1983 release was a sonic departure from Marshall's debut album. Very intentionally so, says Marshall: "For me it was actually a corrective. Part of the characteristic sound of Field Day is the sound of tube equipment, which I love; there was almost none of that on my first album. Every control room at the Power Station had a giant rack of vintage Pultec EQs; pretty much everything on the album passed through those at some point or another." Of Lillywhite's production, Marshall adds, "To me (it) sounds like a thunderstorm in a rain forest. Real organic."
