The American rock band Kansas released their self-titled debut album in 1974. The material on the album is compiled by selecting songs from the two former groups out of which Kansas formed. Their first album is a mix of the boogie music and progressive rock. In the progressive field they were one of the first bands to incorporate these complex parts within their music. The first epic from the album is called "Journey from Mariabronn", which starts off with classical influences before introducing the organ, guitars and violin. Another great and long-lasting track is "Death of Mother Nature Suite", consisting of violin parts and different riffs.
Kansas became popular during the 1970s with hits like "Carry On Wayward Son" and "Dust in the Wind". Besides their well-known ballads they also created some impressive progressive pieces. The diversity and energy of the band is the reason they're still performing and recording.
Kansas is available as a first pressing of 2.000 individually numbered copies on transparent vinyl.
