John Hiatt's Crossing Muddy Waters (a pun referencing blues legend Muddy Waters) was originally released on Vanguard Records in 2000. In 2012 New West acquired the rights to the album and re-released it on compact disc. Now 20 years later, Crossing Muddy Waters is being issued on stand alone vinyl LP for the very first time! Serving as Hiatt's first fully acoustic recording, the singer/songwriter explained to the LA Times, "I wanted to do it mostly acoustic to make it sound like we were sitting around on the back porch, and I wanted no drums - those were the only two directives I had in mind." Featuring eleven bluesy Hiatt originals and only two accompanists (Davey Faragher and David Immerglück), the spare and spirited Crossing Muddy Waters was nominated for a Grammy award in 2001 for Best Contemporary Folk Album.
