John Carter Cash - We Must Believe In Magic [2LP] )(RSD 2018)

John Carter Cash has been producing music for the past 25 years, but has written his own music his whole life. Working out of The Cash Cabin Studio, John Carter’s creative center, "We Must Believe In Magic" is a collection of 17 songs recorded over the course of the last ten years. On this album, there comes together an assort-ed and wondrous host of musical guests, from some of the most recorded Nashville session players ever, to visionary recording artists from the bluegrass, rock, and country music world.  For the most part, the music is original, some co-written with a number of master songwriters, including Bill Miller, Shawn Camp, and Wesley Orbison. Much of the production is sparse and simple, focusing on the song and the individual instrumentalist. But John Carter certainly holds no limit or containment around his creative energy, and this double-album is certainly diverse and presents an unparalleled epic journey.
