1969's The Hunter is one of Ike & Tina Turner's most blues oriented albums, cut during the blues revival period of the late 1960s. Released just a few years after the Phil Spector-produced River Deep Mountain High, The Hunter boasts several fine blues workouts in which the Stax sound figures prominently. Produced by Bob Krasnow, the powerhouse album also features electric blues guitarist Albert Collins. The Hunter earned Tina Turner her first solo Grammy nomination for Best R&B Vocal Performance, Female at the 12th Annual Grammy Awards. This is the album's first official American vinyl LP reissue in more than 40 years.
